POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for directing and executing strategies that deliver financial results and elevate the brand positioning of Tommy Hilfiger in Japan.

Will lead the cross-functional team of Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, CRM, Visual Merchandising, Store Design to drive strategies from concept to customer experience, creating a seamless brand messaging across the market.

This position leverages resources globally to identify synergies to improve the business and the brand overall.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

Merchandising & Planning

  • Implement the branding strategy via products. Lead a diverse Merchandising team responsible for product development, style selection, pricing, ordering, product training, promotion, etc.

  • Control and instruct the price strategy; responsible for gross margin and improvements in sell-through, markdowns and inventory control.

  • Work with internal and external partners, including retail operations, franchise partners, E-com, Planning/Allocation, VM, Marketing/PR, store designing and finance team to concept, initiate and execute key initiatives.

Marketing, Communications & CRM

  • Evaluate current brand status (positioning, awareness, equity) and develop strategies to develop improve metrics in a manner consistent with the global position while understanding and adapting to local needs and cultural requirements.

  • Develop a brand strategy with actionable initiatives to develop brand positioning while taking into consideration qualitative and quantitative research results.

  • Supervise and approve Japan marketing, public relations, and event plans including overseeing and monitoring budgets throughout the fiscal year.

Visual Merchandising & Store Design

  • Lead design and development for all Store and Shop in Shop projects in Japan.

  • Supervise Japan project team with execution and vendor procurement.

  • Ensure all consumer touch points are visually merchandised to the global standard at all times (windows and interior).

  • Develop VM training sessions to develop local talent and ensure execution meets TH global standards.

Team Leadership

  • Develop, inspire and coach a high-level of talent to drive and execute on company goals.

  • Grow, retain and develop people. Able to lead and develop management team by leveraging the team skills and expertise, harnessing their abilities and energy to drive business.

  • Foster a work environment that stimulates open communication, creativity, sharing of best practices across the business and cultivates an environment of teamwork and calculated risk taking.

  • Identify and champion needed resources, systems and training in order to facilitate the growth of the business and the individual development of the team.

  • Building strong relationship with region and global TH Brand Management team, closely collaborating within Japan Management team for TH strategic designing and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience: 15+ years of fashion apparel Merchandising or Marketing experience, preferably within fashion retail environment; depth of understanding of product development interfaces with Merchandising. Experience with Japanese consumer.

Education: bachelor’s degree required

  • Written and oral English that must be practical to communicate with overseas counterparts (TOEIC 900 or more) and good presentation skill in English.
