Your Role

The APO Global Planning Organization’s ambition is to deliver reliable Service towards it’s (internal) customers & stakeholders and is recognized for its skills to provide sustainable Supply solution on a 0–2-year horizon (and beyond). In this job, knowledge is key and helps the division to make quick decisions and find the optimal balance between cost and the customer needs without jeopardizing Compliance and Quality of the product & processes. In the mix of people, processes, and systems, it is critical to develop a strong communication network that ensures transparency between affiliates, regions and global functions for all supply chain issues. You will work in an international environment and truly act Globally.

Withing the larger Global Supply Chain team with 80+ professionals, we have a Global Planning team consisting of 25 people in different stages of their careers, located at 2 different locations: Basel (CH) and Zwolle (NL). As a Planner Global Supply Chain, you will be reporting to the Supply Chain/Global Planning Manager.

Planner Global Supply Chain

The Planner Global Supply Chain will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of valid replenishment plan for the assigned Third Party or Internal manufacturing sites and second tier suppliers, all in line with business strategies, financial plans, capacity constraint, contractual commitments, and the target inventory levels. The Planner Global Supply Chain builds and manages a supply chain network that is resilient and act as shock-absorber for fluctuations coming from both demand & supply. Focus within the replenishment plan is to optimize inventory levels and identification, assessment and mitigation of supply risks is a key priority in the daily activities.

The current open position is for a critical (new) role in our Global Planning team and has a strong focus on Launch excellence given the nature of the portfolio. Aside from required portfolio independency, there is also a need to work closely with other Operations and Supply Chain people to successfully launch new products.

What You'll Do

Considering Demand, Supply and Inventory management for the assigned portfolio of suppliers and products

  • Responsible to understand and appropriately support demand changes from commercial forecast

  • Accountable for providing monthly Replenishment forecast to assigned suppliers

  • Planning responsible for coordination of New Product Introductions and Label changes

  • Accountable (for a portion of the portfolio) to issue on-time PO’s and maintenance of this PO portfolio

  • Proactively avoid product backorders and develop action plans upon their occurrence, while providing business impact and mitigation scenarios

  • Provide (internal) customers with pro-active information about changes in supply and/or shipments plans. Coordinate action plans to align demand and supply

  • Ensure close collaboration & communication with TPM’s or manufacturing sites, to achieve alignment on supply chain topics such as constraints, inventories, capacity, and new product launches

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal EPD stakeholders, (third party) manufacturing sites and regional counterparts

  • Responsible to measure Supplier Performance, reporting of results and provide appropriate CAPA in case of performance below target (part of weekly and monthly KPI reporting)

  • Define & implement inventory strategies to maintain appropriate inventory levels within the nodes of Supply Chain, in line with overall divisional targets

  • Frequently update inventory and volume projections (Last Best Estimates)

  • Manage any slow or non-moving inventory to avoid obsolescence

  • Create and maintain Master data in SAP (i.e. MOQ’s, Safety Stocks, Leadtime's, Product data) to assure optimal replenishment plans and logistical execution

  • Assure compliance with local and Abbott quality, financial, and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures

  • Represent Supply Chain in BRM, D&OP, Workstream and other cross-functional meetings

Requirements:

Qualification

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Supply Chain management, Operations Management, Logistics Management, Business Administration, or equal by experience

  • Several years of (related) Supply Chain experience

  • Strong communication skills (English, written and oral)

  • Good system/program skills (SAP ECC/APO or similar system, Microsoft Excel)

Good to have

  • A good understanding of S&OP/MRP (Material Requirement Planning)/MPS (Master Production Schedule) planning systems and business applications is highly appreciated

  • Experience with inventory management and cost saving projects

  • System/Program affinity (i.e. Power BI, Microsoft apps)
