We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to take technical ownership of one or several sensor surface etching or polishing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for continuous improvement of process capability, throughput, and cost. This role ensures the safety of employees and customers through safety risk assessments, engineering controls for safety measures, and quick resolution of safety risks in their processes. The Process Engineer will lead both proactive and reactive problem-solving efforts, working closely with Production and R&D teams to develop new process capabilities and support the production of new CZT sensor products.
Responsibilities
Take technical ownership of sensor surface etching or polishing processes.
Continuously improve process capability, throughput, and cost.
Ensure the safety of employees and customers through safety risk assessments and engineering controls.
Lead proactive and reactive problem-solving efforts, solving problems at a root cause level.
Collaborate with Production and R&D to develop new process capabilities.
Serve as the technical lead for production engineering projects, including capacity expansion, new equipment installation, and process development.
Work with Test Engineering to analyze test data and improve sensor performance.
Seek opportunities to improve production process yields and costs.
Represent the production team in design reviews of NPD projects.
Ensure process capability metrics (Cp, Cpk, GRR) are adequate and drive improvements.
Produce work instructions and production floor documentation; train the production team on these documents.
Develop, own, and execute an improvement roadmap for processes.
Develop, monitor, and report KPIs to ensure process stability.
Administer Jira board for associated projects to coordinate and organize tasks.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science & Engineering.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
Experience in fabrication of electronic ceramics or semiconductor materials.
Proven experience in complex electronic and/or sensor manufacturing.
Capability to use industry best practice lean, SPC, and 6-sigma tools.
Experience operating in an ISO 9001 quality management system.
Excellent root cause problem solving and implementation of preventative controls.
Strong communication skills and ability to lead or work in teams.
Data driven with advanced data analysis skills using Excel or SAS JMP.
Demonstrated actions to ensure a safe working environment.
Color vision required for color-coded safety markers and production processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to work with and train production operators in new or modified processes and work instructions.
Work Environment
This position is on-site five days a week, with at least 50% of the day spent on the production floor. You will work within a team of five, including two software engineers and one mechanical engineer. The work environment is dynamic and focused on fabricating a device that detects cancers, ultimately changing and saving lives.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00
