Our pet food factory in Zanesville is favorably located along the banks of the Muskingum River in scenic east-central Ohio halfway between Columbus and Wheeling, West Virginia. This 100-year-old facility was acquired by Nestlé Purina in 1987 and has since evolved to incorporate our innovative portfolio of products, processes, and technical equipment. Zanesville is the only Nestlé Purina location that produces Alpo® Meal Helpers, Moist & Meaty®, and Beneful Simple Goodness for all of the United States and Canada—packaged and shipped with the utmost quality and nutrition.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental and Energy Specialist oversees processes and projects that help Nestle Purina achieve our Environmental and Energy goals. They lead all environmental compliance requirements with local, regional, and national agencies. They will monitor and manage the use of all energy inputs into the facility to optimize our performance and minimize our use of resources (electrical, water, gas, etc.).

Environmental Compliance

  • Ensures that all requirements of applicable environmental programs are implemented throughout the facility

  • Leads Facility Environmental Committee

  • Prepares & files permit applications with assistance from Corporate Environmental Engineering

  • Develops internal audit plan, coordinates, and participates in internal audits

  • Prepares & submits routine regulatory reports

  • Maintains facility compliance calendar

Energy Management

  • Monitors utilities usage for the facility and provides guidance to area owners on how to reduce their impact

  • Develops and manages energy conservation programs for the facility

  • Reports energy results and compares with other facilities in the network to benchmark for improvements

  • Assists in building the utilities budget

Capital Projects

  • Assists engineers in completion of environmental and energy review of all capital projects including completion of Environmental Statements

  • Leads effort to justify and approve energy reduction projects

  • Provide environmental training to associates as needed

  • Actively participates in all factory Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1-2 years related environmental or engineering experience

Other

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a technical field preferred

  • Manufacturing and industrial water treatment experience preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $73,000 - $100,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
