CITY OF YUMA EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/LABORER in YUMA, Colorado
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Knowledge of and previous experience in the operations, maintenance, and repairs of municipal street systems and the operations of vehicles and equipment generally required for such work. Functional knowledge of current and relative safety principles and techniques including confined space entry practices and trenching and shoring safety. Ability to ensure personal safety and that of other City employees and the public. Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. 2 Physical Requirements of the Job: Must be capable of performing strenuous and demanding physical labor in a variety of challenging work conditions such as after normal working hours, during inclement weather conditions, and in emergency situations. Must be capable of working safely in the proximity to potentially hazardous public traffic conditions. Must be capable of lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds from time to time and working in hot or cold weather conditions. Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Colorado CDL driver's license appropriate to the equipment and vehicles operated.
Preferred:Experience in municipal street operations, preferred. WAGE: $16.50 to $19.50/hr.
DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Street/Sanitation Superintendent, the Operator/Laborer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repairs, and construction of City's streets, alleys, and roadway systems, as well as trash collection.
