Job Title: Maintenance of Traffic Laborer

Job Summary:

The Maintenance of Traffic Laborer is required to perform temporary traffic control operations in order to

maintain traffic on a roadway construction project in a manner that protects and conveys the public in an efficient manner within a specified work zone. Certain duties will be under the supervision of an Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Laborer. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures and safety guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:

Includes, but is not limited to, the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary by management personnel to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Perform the following duties - some self-directed and others under the supervision of an Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Laborer.

  • Set-up and maintain traffic control devices, installation and service work-zone signs, and lights
  • Set up and maintain assigned Maintenance of Traffic activity including and detours and lane closures
  • Coordinate services with the on-site client representative or officials
  • Load and unload equipment into and out of company trucks
  • Deliver / Pick-up equipment from customer jobsites
  • Coordinate activities of traffic control laborers to ensure compliance with MOT guidelines
  • Make recommendations on existing conditions to coordinate procedures for traffic maintenance activities
  • Complete daily paperwork and reports as required by supervisor
  • If an approved driver, may operate a company vehicle and maintain company standards with Motor Vehicle Record

Desired Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years in Maintenance of Traffic / Temporary Traffic Control or related industry (i.e. Road Construction, Highway Maintenance, Construction)

  • High School Diploma/GED and be able to communicate clearly both written and verbally

Required Skills:

Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds

Workin from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds

Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively

Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
