Location: Nestle Quality Assurance Centre, York

Hours: 37 hours per week across 5 days

Working days: During training period Monday – Friday, then moving to Tuesday – Saturday thereafter.

Salary: £24,375 - £27,000 + potential bonus + other fantastic benefits

Position Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Microbiology Analyst to join the Nestle Quality Assurance Centre (NQAC) team in York on a permanent contract.

The Microbiology team ensure that our products are free from pathogens and safe to consume before they go out to our customers.

A day in the life of a Microbiology Analyst

As a Microbiology Analyst you will support the completion of microbiology testing and services, to provide a safe, accurate, reliable and efficient testing service to the NQAC York Customers. You will be required to work in a laboratory environment, routinely applying Good Laboratory Practices.

Other responsibilities will include:

•Partaking in relevant proficiency schemes.

•Being involved in project and investigation work as required by the business.

•Taking part in the internal and external audits.

•Assisting in cleaning duties and disposal of waste materials

•Within the role you will be expected to work to high standards of GLP in order to maintain the section’s ISO17025 accreditation and partake in the relevant proficiency schemes to demonstrate on-going competency.

What will make you successful?

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Microbiology Analyst who has worked within a laboratory testing environment.

Other attributes would include:

•Having a relevant science HND / degree which cover Biology such as Food science Microbiology.

•Ideally have relevant laboratory experience of test methods and their routine application.

•Ability to work on own initiative.

•Manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.

•Previous experience of traditional food testing methods would be a distinct advantage.
