Central Monitoring Technician - Central Monitoring - Day
Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Part Time
Part Time (48 Hours Biweekly)
Shift: Day/Evening 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
One major and one minor holiday per year
Inpatient Central Monitoring Services (IP CMS) is a system-based, remote surveillance team that monitors ECG/EKGs, pulse oximetry, and other vital signs. IP CMS also provides tele-sitting (video monitoring) services. IP CMS is committed to standardizing and improving telemetry and video monitoring services to improve patient outcomes.
General Summary
Uses cardiac rhythm patient monitoring software and related electronic health record, monitors patient cardiac rhythms and/or oxygen saturation and escalates issues identified to direct care providers in a timely way, as appropriate. Ensures that there is a direct care provider connection in communication for cardiac rhythms of concern and engagement in requested action. Provides Central Monitoring to other care categories, as required
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Monitors patient cardiac rhythms. Responds in a timely way to alarms and communicates/reports dysrhythmias promptly to nursing staff.
Documents patient rhythm strips, and all event associated communications with highest quality.
Maintains the telemetry log for each shift.
Exercises professional levels of verbal and written. communications.
Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer applications designed for functions such as patient management, , acuity, composer, etc..
Serves as a knowledgeable resource for multiple applications (e.g., Epic, Epic workbench, etc.).
Keeps current with system/application upgrades. Offers/provides assistance to others in navigating IS applications.
Consults with appropriate clinical/nonclinical personnel to resolve issues.
Communicates the patient electronic health record or other Central Monitoring Team forms in accordance with WSH policy/procedure and the Central Monitoring Team standard work, with reliable and high quality.
Communicates changes in the patient's condition and other urgent information to the Central Monitoring Team Registered Nurse in a timely manner. Reports actual and potential problems concerning patients, families, staff and appropriate departments to the team members and the charge nurse/nurse manager.
Communicates delay/difficulties in providing services or alteration of routine to the Central Monitoring Team Registered Nurse.
Meets volume, timeliness and quality performance goals reliably.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of cardiac rhythm dysrhythmias and oxygen saturation related monitoring, including continuous growth and development

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- Less than 1-year Relevant experience. Required
Licenses:
Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician Upon Hire Preferred
Courses and Training:
Successful completion of EKG course. Upon Hire Required and
Successful completion of rhythm recognition course. within 90 days Required
Previous training in rhythm analysis and recognition training. Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
Advanced computer skills and ability to use various software applications in a windows environment.
