The Opportunity:

Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding a Water Quality Scientist to our group. As part of the team in Prairies and North, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offering in the province or territory through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life:

  • Your focus will be on water quality assessments for northern and local projects within a multidisciplinary team.

  • In the winter, you’ll be mostly working in the office, in the summer you’ll be completing a mix of office and field-based assignments.

  • In the summer, you will be carrying out water quality fieldwork at northern project sites in a variety of environments such as all-weather conditions and rugged and remote locations. You’ll be accessing field sites via air or road, with additional boat or helicopter access required to access some locations.

  • You’ll work on data entry, summarizing datasets and statistical analysis.

  • You’ll be using customized tools and software to support data analysis.

  • You’ll prepare written and graphical material for reports and presentations.

  • You’ll be working with Indigenous crews in a highly respectful and collaborative manner.

  • You’ll demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff.

We'd love to hear from you if you have ...

  • A university or college degree (preferably in environmental science, chemistry, toxicology) or other experience

  • Eagerness to learn and build a career in environmental consulting

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to take direction and work in both a team environment and independently

  • Experience with water quality sampling, data management, data analysis, advanced excel/VBA skills and knowledge of regulatory guidelines and frameworks applicable to water quality are an asset

  • A valid driver’s license (Class 5)
