Job Purpose

Responsible for supporting plant operations by performing electrical and mechanical electronic and/or instrumentation controls, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of machines according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance processes and systems.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Maintain continued safe manufacturing operation by performing electrical modifications as required by NEC codes applicable standards. Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting as well as electrical and hydraulic repairs as required.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical or electrical systems and/or equipment and recommend preventative maintenance procedures and spare parts inventory to optimize operation. Train operators as required.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain mechanical and electronic control/instrumentation systems and normal power systems by use of manuals, blueprints, hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and broad instructions from supervision.

  • Installation and start-up (and/or assist in start-up) of complex power and control/instrumentation systems.

  • Assist Engineering in the installation of simple/medium control and/or instrumentation systems.

  • Exhibit acceptable troubleshooting and problem-solving proficiency on major plant systems.

  • Able to proficiently troubleshoot mechanical components of equipment such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, chain drives, etc. Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and controls on single equipment as well as systems with multiple pieces of equipment.

  • Inspect machinery or equipment by dismantling and testing to determine defects.

  • Align and adjust equipment to meet required tolerances. Make adjustments to clearance and/or timing of control devices.

  • Modify equipment with or without blueprints acting in conjunction with plant engineering.

  • Assemble, reassemble, and start equipment to check for proper operation.

  • Able to operate basic machine shop equipment (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, etc.) to fabricate, repair, and install equipment or processes using brazing, soldering, and welding equipment.

  • Able to perform basic carpentry skills.

  • Install piping meeting regulatory and local codes (i.e. process piping, airlines, general plumbing).

  • Ability to navigate through MPulse Maintenance system to find work request entries. Enter hours and documentation performed on work orders. Scan parts from Factory Stores to work orders via MPulse.

  • Participate in Continuous Process Improvement Teams.

  • Comply with all company policies, rules, and procedures.

  • Maintain work areas and company property to an acceptable housekeeping cleanliness (5S).

  • Attend courses for training and retraining as required.

  • Perform all duties as assigned by supervision or lead person.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or equivalent related field) or five (5) years industrial electrical experience with advanced skill level equivalent to or better than Journeyman’s Certification.

  • Five (5) years industrial mechanical on-the-job experience, including pneumatic and hydraulic skills.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions provided in SDS sheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job safety analysis (JSAs).

  • Ability to read, comprehend and use blueprints, equipment schematics, and equipment service manuals.

  • Strong working knowledge and experience/exposure in electrical, electronic controls, mechanical skills, hydraulics, pneumatics, logic and basic PLC systems, lubrication, welding and general mechanical repair techniques.

  • Physically able to perform work assignments.

  • The salary for this position is $30.88 Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
