Job Description

HII’s Mission Technologies Division is seeking a mid-level engineer with experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to contribute to the planning and development of a variety of digital engineering efforts. In this role, the candidate will directly s upport the Propulsion Acquisition Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and provide system design, development, integration, and subject matter expertise of a wide variety of aircraft engines for the US Air Force. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in systems engineering principles, with a focus on model-based methodologies through either academic courses or hands on utilization of MBSE tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Program Managers, Senior Engineers, Stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts to define and document capability requirements

  • Creates and maintains system and process models using industry-standard tools such as Cameo

  • Participates in system definition activities and assists in troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • Supports or leads MBSE efforts on multiple programs

  • Works with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements. Translates these requirements into detailed specifications and verify their alignment with overall project goals.

  • Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met

  • Identifies potential risks related to propulsion system development and integration. Develops strategies and models to mitigate risks.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of system models and requirements.

  • Prepares technical reports and presentations for project stakeholders and leadership.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including engineers, program/project managers, and military personnel. Communicate technical concepts and progress updates.

  • Participates in special projects as required

Minimum Qualifications

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; OR 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; OR 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience

  • Degrees should be in disciplines such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering.

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and model-based systems engineering practices

  • Proficiency in SysML and modeling tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, and/or Rhapsody

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities

  • Eagerness to learn and stay updated with industry advancements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship

Desired Skills

  • Experience with at least 1 programming language (Java, Python, Ruby, JavaScript etc.)

  • 2-3 years of experience with CAMEO or similar product

  • Basic SQL query skills and general understanding of relational databases.

  • Experience with developing and/or evaluating SysML

  • Experience in U.S. Air Force acquisitions Program Offices

Physical Requirements

Office environment. Computer use required. Light lifting and moving materials may be required.
