Program Summary
KBR is seeking an electrical engineer to fill a position located at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The AFRL Sensors Directorate (RY) conducts both in-house and contractual efforts focused on affordable sensor and countermeasure technologies for reconnaissance, surveillance, precision engagement, and electronic warfare systems. Core technology areas include radio frequency and electro-optical sensing, electromagnetic spectrum warfare, multi-domain sensing autonomy, resilient mission systems, and enabling devices and components. The candidate will support the reliability lab contributing to the overall assurance of microelectronics through the generation of data artifacts associated with the electronic characterization, physical analysis, and application specific reliability.
Job Summary
Optical, DC, and RF characterization of semiconductor devices, including RF gain compression sweeps, s-parameter sweeps, and load pull analysis for device matching
Set up and maintain DC and RF reliability testing on multiple vendor devices. Help design test plans based on results from preliminary testing
Perform data analysis to determine failure rates, failure modes, and wear-out mechanisms for semiconductor devices based on knowledge from literature research
Assemble reliability test station test fixtures to ensure compatibility with specified vendor and desired testing conditions
Learn from test equipment manuals and tutorials to become proficient in use and explanation of new and existing equipment capabilities
Perform research on latest reliability testing to improve current test methods and create novel test strategies
Manage calibration schedules for all equipment in the lab and for the reliability test stations
Perform basic troubleshooting with the software and hardware contained in the reliability test stations
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform lifetime assessments and lifetime sciences analysis on digital and analog microelectronic components for reliability, trust, assurance, and degradation modeling and testing
Perform reliability assurance analyses such as: failure modes and effects analysis, waveform analysis, step stress analysis, accelerated life testing, operational life testing, physical analysis
Draft and present status update reports throughout testing
Write final technical report for publication
Present status update reports to government POC in regular meetings and provide input to future direction of testing
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering field, with 2 years experience in related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Secret clearance or ability to obtain a secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to identify reliability capability gaps and perform literature and market research on emerging reliability techniques
Experience creating and presenting technical briefings and reports describing electrical testing methodologies and test plan developments
