Project 1 (Capacity & Layout IE)

Industrial Engineering Capacity Modeling Automation and Layout optimization

Project Objective / Purpose

Wafer fabrication in foundry is the fundamental of all electronics appliances in the semiconductor supply chain. To obtain optimal wafer output, there is a need to improve the Industrial Engineering's CWCM capacity modelling system and expand capacity within the available space in the campus without or minimal facilitation cost and interruptions to production.

Project Description

Students will get to learn:

Function of Industrial Engineering (IE) Semiconductor cleanroom layout Understand the current Fab capacity modeling system and constraints faced Auto CAD software function and its application Propose ideas, implement, validate data and documentation prior to automation roll-out Execute tools movement across Fabs and space optimization

Project Outcome

Student will be tasked to support automating capacity modeling and reporting to improve the department performance. Students will also be tasked to support layout optimization to facilitate capacity landscape transformation and re-profile. Detailed documentation and data validation will required upon the implementation.

At the end of the internship, an overall report to summarize their learning experience with recommendations for improvement is required.

Project 2 (Module IE)

IE Asset Database Maintenance & Enhancement

Project Objective / Purpose

To ensure up to date asset data information for timely report update with management. Enhance database for efficient user maintenance.

Project Description

Students will get to learn:

Function of Industrial Engineering (IE) Overview of Fab's Tool List information Use and maintain the in house built database Download report and summarize ready for regular update for all stakeholders Prepare report presentation (excel & PowerPoint) Study and proposed for potential database enhancement

Project Outcome

Database stored with up-to-date information Able to download report and summarize for regular update to all stakeholders With proposed enhancement, expect more efficient database maintenance and reduced time spend on data management

Required Qualifications:

Degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Familiar with Microsoft Excel and VBA programming

*This application is for students undertaking a 20-24 weeks credit-bearing internship from Jan 2025 onwards.
