Actalent Civil Engineer in Woodbridge, Virginia

Job Title: Civil Engineer IIJob Description

A Civil Engineering Consulting firm is urgently hiring for an Engineer II to join their team. The Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of site layouts, subdivision plans, site plans, public improvement plans, drainage studies, grading studies, floodplain studies, adjoining owner notifications, code updates, and occasional cut sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of site layouts, subdivision plans, site plans, public improvement plans, drainage studies, grading studies, floodplain studies, adjoining owner notifications, code updates, and cut sheets.

  • Assist with utility layout (horizontal and vertical), grading, street design, SWM facilities, open channel flow, storm and sanitary sewer design, erosion siltation controls, BMPs, and transportation engineering.

  • Proficient use of ACAD 2004 and other relevant software is required.

  • Communicate with clientele and local government agencies, attending necessary meetings or conferences as needed.

  • Provide assistance to planning and surveying departments as needed, including the preparation of feasibility studies, zoning submittals, and survey functions.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 1-6 years of experience in Drafting/Designing Commercial and/or Residential Communities

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Experience with Civil 3D is a major plus

  • Experience putting together site plans

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • EIT certification is preferred or plan to sit for the FE

Work Environment

The work environment is an open office, collaborative environment with the ability to work remotely based on an agreeable schedule between the consultant and Manager. The position will be 25% Design and 75% Drafting. The consultant will receive 2 weeks (15 Days) PTO and 6 paid Holidays during the 9-month contract period, with PTO accrued over the 9 months. Once the 9-month contract period is complete, there is the potential for conversion to a full-time employee.
