POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Teacher works with the Program Team Members and community partners to create a program that addresses the individual needs of the children. This curriculum fulfills the children's educational, developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs. The Lead Teacher also supervises assistant teachers, vendors and volunteers who work in the classroom. The Lead Teacher will prepare weekly lesson plans that are age appropriate and must be able to develop, implement, and manage an approved classroom management system.

Essential Duties: Stays current with research and literature related to emerging trends and promising practices in school age youth programming;

Plans, coordinates, and administers child care lesson plans to meet the physical, emotional, social, and academic needs of the children;

Actively participates with children in activities. Stimulates each childs natural curiosity and desire to learn;

Develops and implements a positive classroom management tool to be used daily;

Develops and maintains a good working relationship with caregivers, students, school personnel, community partners, and team members.

Monitors and tracks developmental growth of students; keeps parents informed of progress and/or concerns;

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, Social Work or related field with at least 2-3 years of teaching or youth development programming experience preferred.

An Associates Degree in Human Services or related field with at least 3-4 years of experience in youth development programming.

Experience working with marginalized communities preferred.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Knowledge of child development, and a sincere interest in the development of children.

Certified in CPR and standard first aid.

Acceptable results from a criminal background check.

Must be well organized, self-directed, and have attention to detail.
