Job Title: Sr. Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

The Senior Human Resource Generalist is responsible for a range of functions including employee relations, labor relations, training, employment, affirmative action and performance management, compensation, benefits management, and payroll functions. This role is crucial for maintaining and improving talent sourcing and selection processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing employee relations and benefits. The successful candidate will be highly perceptive and capable of relating to all organizational levels, sensitive to both organizational and employee needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Talent Sourcing and Selection

  • Lead the hourly recruiting for site and support professional-level recruitment.

  • Maintain internal position posting and selection processes

  • Ensure proper external position postings, handling of applicant flow, including employee referrals

  • Identify and maintain strong relationships with government and private sources for referral of manufacturing candidates

  • Administration of skill assessments, effective interviewing, participation in selection, development and presentation of offers, managing acceptance and start process for all position assigned to recruit.

  • Employee Relations, Talent Retention, Conflict Avoidance and Resolution

  • Maintain a work environment where employees understand, are comfortable with and proactively accessing appropriate internal support for their interests and concerns.

  • Support supervisors and associates with communications, training and coaching on how to interpret and apply HR policies and procedures especially in core areas of interest such as time and attendance, performance management, conflict resolution, investigate complaints, disciplinary action, pay and benefits.

  • Address and maintain data on areas of concern to enable systemic problem identification and resolution. This will include participation in onboarding new and transferring associates, “management by walking around” all shifts, and exit interviews.

  • HR Data Entry, Accuracy and Reporting

  • Encourage and support associate and manager self-service, where available. Where not available, ensure accurate and timely entry of HR data (hires, data changes, terminations).

  • Back up to Payroll-Timecard management.

  • Work with managers to avoid timecard discrepancies such as time–off balances and leaves of absence.

  • Ensure alignment to time-keeping policies.

  • Maintain and keep track of Time & Attendance all hourly non-exempt employees to ensure compliance with all work rules.

  • Assemble and ensure data quality for internal reports such as monthly headcount and turnover.

  • Benefits/Leave Management

  • Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.

  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans.

  • Reviews benefits with employees and assists employees with enrollment and life events.

  • Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process for site.

  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.

  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.

  • Regulatory and Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.

  • Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner

Must Haves

  • Five years of experience in HR doing employee and labor relations

  • Talent sourcing and recruitment experience

  • HR data entry and reporting proficiency

  • Benefits and leave management experience

Work Environment

The position is onsite, Monday through Friday, in a business casual office attached to a manufacturing site. Exposure to the leadership team is frequent, and the role reports to the HR VP based in Connecticut. The local team includes this role and an HR Coordinator. This position does not have any direct reports.
