Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Wixom, Michigan

Description:

Central Conveyor is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work on their projects. They will spend 80% on CAD with either AutoCAD (2D) & Inventor (3D). The other 20% will be them on the floor to validate their designs can be made. They will work with the team to build parts of the system and will need to make decisions throughout this process.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing clear, complete, and accurate working plans and creating drawing/sketch details from rough sketches or notes, reviewing design documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability, creating bills of material (BOM), and meeting job design budgets and deadlines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Modify product designs, according to guidelines provided.

• Develop detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment, according to guidelines provided.

• Execute change processes to support existing Engineering products, according to guidelines provided.

• Create 3-D models from 2-D drawings.

• Generate and scan prints.

• Test prototypes and standard products and draft reports documenting all findings.

• Categorize a wide arrangement of existing parts.

• Complete other projects or tasks as assigned.

Travel: Up to 5% mainly in the Midwest & South U.S. Travel could be due to customer needs onsite presence.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST Haves:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

  • 1 year of experience (would consider Co-Op experience at a minimum) with AutoCAD (2D) and some type of 3D CAD (ideally Inventor but would consider other 3D CAD systems like SolidWorks or UGNX)

  • 1 year of mechanical experience or mechanical hobbies working with automation or industrial equipment or material handling or conveyor industry OR working on tools, cars, machines as a hobby

  • Previous experience making decisions

  • Previous experience interfacing with other departments and communicating effectively

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint
