Abbott Statistical Programmer I in Witney, United Kingdom

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings, and we have recently launched a new system that will revolutionise how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is part of the Medical Devices division. Our Witney facility is a Global Centre of Excellence for the manufacture of medical devices and produces innovative blood glucose monitoring systems for people with Diabetes.

Within R&D we have an exciting opportunity for Statistical Programmer to join a team at the forefront of diabetes care innovation. The opportunity is based in our purpose-built facility in Witney, West Oxfordshire, or from our Maidenhead offices. Your varied role will be to provide statistical programming support to assist in the development and improvement of products including laboratory and clinical trials. Specific duties will include:

  • Providing programming support to clinical studies and R&D product development,

  • Supporting, developing and validating software using the System Life Cycle (SLC),

  • Establishing systems for data access, reporting and analysis.

  • Support the development of other junior programmers in the team.

You must also have an organised approach to your work, with excellent attention to detail. The role will involve collaborating with different people within the department. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills and team-working skills, in addition to your knowledge and experience of SAS programming. A demonstrated knowledge of statistical techniques is preferable.

You are likely to have a BSc (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or Computing. As you will be working closely with colleagues from R&D, clinical, data management and regulatory affairs, this role will be office-based long-term, reflecting our collaborative style and ways of working.

Whilst the role is predominantly site based (either Witney or Maidenhead), flexibility can be given to hybrid working arrangements. Witney is located about 12 miles to the west of Oxford, on the edge of the Cotswolds, and Maidenhead is located along the M4 corridor. As you will be working closely with colleagues from R&D, clinical, data management and regulatory affairs, you will need to be mainly office-based.

As you’d expect from an innovative global health care company, we offer excellent salaries and a competitive range of benefits including a defined-contribution pension scheme, share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme. Here at Abbott, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in - at Witney you'll find onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more, and at Maidenhead, you'll find an onsite gym, virtual yoga, and more!

The successful candidate for this role may be qualified for relocation assistance should they need to relocate to join our team.

Full details will be provided during the recruitment and selection process.
