Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve CMM inspection issues; if issue resides within CMM program, interface with CMM Programmer to address issue

  • Review calibration results to ensure the accuracy of CMM measurements being performed

  • Read prints to set-up CMM inspection fixturing and understand how to properly load parts for inspection

  • Successfully set-up part inspections between multiple CMMs as needed

  • Coordinate maintenance and vendor calibration of CMM equipment

  • Develop and maintain CMM spare part stocking strategy (tips, sensors, probes, etc)

  • Manage CMM fixturing inventory

  • Perform inspection of manufacturing set-up parts and communicate effectively with Manufacturing Engineers and CNC machine operators concerning part measurements as reflected in various CMM reports to provide recommendations and support of any necessary adjustment if needed

  • Create CMM Operator training material, standards, and conduct training

  • Assist Production Supervisors in evaluating and qualifying CMM operators

  • Perform first time CMM program part inspection prove out and provide clear feedback to CMM programmer as needed

  • Assist others in inspecting parts on CMM

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 3 to 5 years experienced with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

  • Basic level of PCDMIS software use

  • Advanced knowledge of reading and understanding CMM part inspection reports

  • Ability to read blueprints and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ANSI, ASME & ISO standards, Manufacturing Quality Control & Inspection plan documents

  • Basic Knowledge of manufacturing and machining processes

  • Ability to follow instructions for loading and running parts for multiple operations on the CMM

  • Advanced knowledge of CMM calibration protocols and results understanding

  • Ability to troubleshoot CMM machine issues and accuracy of parts and reports being measured

  • Ability to resolve semi-complex manufacturing problems and participates in troubleshooting activities with Manufacturing Leads for CMM equipment and inspection routines

  • Participates and supports continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ability to work independently; follows written and oral instructions; good communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with team members of all levels and groups

  • Basic Knowledge of Quality systems, equipment, tools, and methods

  • Ensures manufacturing Safety supporting Zero Harm Culture (ZHC)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Heavy metal products

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.

  • Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.

  • Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.

  • Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.

  • Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM

  • Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
