Palmetto Infusion Services Clinical Nurse Manager - AIC in West Columbia, South Carolina

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for the coordination and supervision of all direct patient care, as well as financial/operational oversight in the territory assigned. The Clinical Nurse Manager works closely with the Director of Clinical Services to ensure safe, quality patient care while meeting financial and operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING

Experience:

  • 2 years of infusion experience and two years of leadership experience.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and active Registered Nurse license in the state(s) where job performed.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with chronically ill populations.
  • BSN.
  • CRNI or other infusion specialization is desirable.

Other Qualifications:

  • CPR certification required.
  • Ability to complete a patient assessment, have venous access skills and emergency patient care.
  • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
  • Must be able to assume a flexible work schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP

  • Actively recruits and retains qualified staff according to budget, census and need.
  • Assist in orientation program consistent with guidelines for all staff managed.
  • Provides on-going, clear, measurable performance expectations for staff.
  • Provides on-going feedback to staff. Guides and counsels staff consistently.
  • Holds staff managed accountable for responsibility inherent in their position.
  • Serves in a staff development/mentor role to the nurse clinicians.
  • Completes performance appraisals of all staff managed according to policy.
  • Provides contemporaneous documentation related to personnel and HR matters involving direct reports.
  • Identifies employee strengths, developmental needs, skills, interests, and values to relate to organization needs.
  • Demonstrates full knowledge of all organization policies related to work standards and patient management.
  • Actively participates in branch performance and review meetings.
  • Maintains clinical proficiency and competency in skills and theory of infusion therapy, access management, and infection control by reviewing literature and participating in approved in-services, seminars, and conferences.
  • Utilizes flexible staffing ratios of Full-time, Part-time, and PRN nurses to maximize departmental efficacy and efficiency.
  • Manages staffing for nursing department; coordinating staff schedules and on-call coverage while participating in call rotation.
  • Manages according to financial goals of the assigned clinic locations.
  • Maintains a professional image and decorum both in the office and community.
  • Demonstrates a self-directed and disciplined approach to position.

OPERATIONS/ADMINISTRATION

  • Reviews CPR+ patient census and nursing activity reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Researches variances and develops appropriate action as needed.
  • Provides oversight of staff to ensure quality clinical care in accordance with physician orders and company policies.
  • Ensures the delivery of patient care is provided according to the standards of nursing and clinical infusion management.
  • Serves as resource to all clinical staff when problems/questions arise related to provision of patient care.
  • Functions as a nurse clinician providing direct patient care and medication compounding according to established standards of practice.
  • Ensures that systems are in place to promote timely and accurate documentation and billing for patient services.
  • Serves as branch infection control services.
  • Assists in meeting accreditation standards and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Attends scheduled patient care conferences, in-services, departmental meetings, etc. as requested/needed.
  • Maint ins professional and technical job knowledge.
  • Takes on call responsibility as assigned for AIC and Home IV accordingly, to provide 24 hour availability.

COMMUNICATION/CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Utilizes CPR+ as primary system for documentation of all patient care.
  • Utilizes email daily as primary non-patient communication method.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with Director of Clinical Services and pharmacy staff.
  • Develops and maintains effective levels of communication between and among staff.
  • Encourages open communication and verbalization of opinions and concerns.
  • Communicates with patients, referral sources, third parties, and co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Takes initiative to present ideas/suggestions to management.

IMPROVING ORGANIZATION PERFORMANCE

  • Complies with all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Supports sales efforts; providing information and educational programs as requested.
  • Demonstrates ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm manner.
  • Represents self in a professional and ethical manner and maintains courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Promotes Palmetto Infusion culture by providing quality, comprehensive services to all customers through a team approach.
  • Gives high priority to client satisfaction and anticipates customer needs and handles any complaint according to policy.
  • Ensures work meets quality standards and demonstrates reliability and follow-through on all assigned tasks.
  • Participates in all the activities of the Performance Improvement Program

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills in handling interactions with Palmetto Infusion staff, other agencies, groups, patients and families.

Technology Skills:

  • Competent in use of company email as means of communication, accessing the company website to view company policies and electronic medical records.
  • Competent in the use of company self-service payroll software (time and attendance, benefits, pay statements).
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products and the ability to navigate Internet Explorer. Proficient in typing, word processing (Microsoft Outlook/Express, Word, Excel), and familiar with office equipment.
  • Proficient in the operation of CPR+.

Language Skills:

  • This position requires a knowledge of, and sensitivity to, cultural and language differences.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
