Warehouse Fabrics Seamstress in Winfield, Alabama
A seamstress makes or mends drapes, curtains, roman shades, and other custom window treatments for customers, along with bedding, table linens, pillows, and a wide variety of other home dcor items. Willing to train.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Operating a straight stitch sewing machine.
- Operating a Blind hemmer.
- Operating a serger.
- Operating a tacking machine.
- Hand sewing when needed.
- Apply basic math to figure yardage needed before cutting.
- Measuring, and cutting fabric.
- Matching and pinning patterns to sew multiple widths of fabric together.
- Matching thread to fabric.
- Understanding fabric types and how to work with them.
- Installing zippers.
- Maintaining sewing machines and equipment.
- Placing orders for workshop supplies.
- Operating electric cutting machines.
- Operate an iron and a steamer.
- Operate the quilting machine and learn multiple quilting patterns.
Pay starts at $10-$11/hr. before moving to commission-based ($10/hr. minimum)
