Town Of Windsor Summer Camp Assistant Manager in Windsor, Colorado

Hiring Range: The base/starting wage for this position is $15.63 per hour, which increases based on years of service/experience.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., approximately 8 hours per day; schedule is subject to change

NATURE OF WORK As a member of the Recreation division, the individual in this position assists with the administration and supervision of a comprehensive Summer Camp program by assisting in planning, marketing, executing, and evaluating safe and effective class curricula and activities. This position ensures the safety and well-being of elementary-aged kids enrolled in camp.

Work hours will vary with each depending on morning and afternoon shifts, approximately 30 - 35 hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours per week. The individual in this position must be available for evening trainings starting as early as mid-April. Activities when interacting with children may include arts and crafts, field trips, swimming, hiking, gym play, sports, and outdoor games. This temporary employment may be scheduled through the year on a full-time basis depending on the needs of the town but will not exceed six months in length (or 1,040 hours, whichever comes first). This is strictly temporary employment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED Individuals work under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator who manages Camp Windsor to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.

SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP EXERCISED No supervisory responsibilities or control exercised.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The individual in the Summer Camp Assistant Manager role is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements as determined by the town, department, division, and pursuant to laws, regulation and practices. The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive: Assists in creating program activities and creates age appropriate lessons plans and assists children in socialization and recreational play. Provides timely feedback to parents; serves as liaison between campers and parents. Assists in maintaining children's files including completing appropriate paperwork. Assists Manager in preparation of program materials, equipment and other necessary items; organizes related equipment; inspect equipment to insure safety and cleanliness; may be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction. Recommends purchasing of supplies and equipment when needed. Assists in maintaining a variety of records, reservations, permission slips, waivers, binder preparation, accidents, incidents, medical records; perform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering the telephone, running errands, picking up supplies as needed, conducting activities, and helping set-up tables and chairs. Immediately reports all incidents, injuries and /or unsafe conditions to supervisor. Drives van or 15 - passenger bus for day camp field trips. Communicates with Recreation Coordinator in order to provide quality program. Enforces all department and camp policies, rules and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude. Exercises discretion if the supervisor is not available for advice. Attend staff meetings, mandatory trainings, and other town events required by program. Provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for campers to challenge themselves. Be available for the entire l ngth of the program and demonstrate a positive work ethic. Work directly with youth in games, crafts, swimming, activities and other inventive activities. Assist in leading and supervising temporary/contractual camp staff. Performs related work as required and assigned.

OTHER DUTIES Depending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following: Performs research as directed, such as discovering new technology or tools, etc. Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the town.
