Position Summary
The Health & Safety intern position in Wilson, NC focuses on designing solutions to mitigate safety hazards in the workplace and broader community. An EHS intern position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies and practices related to the job area.
Responsibilities
Work on problems of limited scope and contribute on projects or processes while receiving detailed instructions from higher level professionals
Develop and implement policies and practices to mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace
Identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions
Investigate accidents and collaborate with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence
Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies
Assist in delivering training, learning and development requirements to employees
Minimum Qualifications
To be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Technology, or another applicable major and actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
To be available to work 40 hours weekly in a 12-week internship assignment
