Position: Assistant Superintendent

Location: Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

General Description:

The Assistant Superintendent role is a cornerstone in the dynamic administration and enhancement of educational services within our organization.  This position operates at the intersection of legislative mandates, organizational goals, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational services and experiences.  With a keen eye on compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, the Assistant Superintendent actively contributes to policy formulation and implementation, fostering an environment conducive to educational excellence.

As a proactive leader, the Assistant Superintendent champions a positive organizational culture, leveraging strong leadership qualities to engage and involve all stakeholders.  With a tireless work ethic and adaptability to changing environments, this role navigates diverse interests while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Central to this position is the facilitation of continuous improvement efforts, emphasizing professional learning communities and strategic planning to achieve desired outcomes.  The Assistant Superintendent maintains a visible presence within the district community, serving as a liaison to superintendents, district administrators, and external agencies.

Human resources/human capital management is a core responsibility, encompassing recruitment, licensure oversight, hiring, and workforce development initiatives.  Additionally, this role ensures compliance with legal requirements, including Title IX, FMLA, FERPA, and Workers' Compensation, while also overseeing personnel contracts and evaluations.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of a Master's Degree in Educational Administration or similar field

  2. Minimum of 6 years of successful school administrative experience demonstrating increasing levels in responsibilities

  3. Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience

  4. Appropriate administrative license, or the ability to be granted one by the Ohio State Board of Education

  5. Experience in the areas of education, human resources, instruction, finance, educational services, and a broad knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements.

  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

  7. Must pass a criminal background check

  8. Current driver's license and reliable transportation
