GE Vernova Manufacturing Engineer – NDE Level III in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The NDE Level III is responsible for the administration of GNF and GEH Manufacturing NDE programs, processes, and certifications as well as overall Quality certification tracking and management.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and administer certification examinations and prepare written practices for NDE methods as required.

  • Designation of Level III Qualifiers and NDT Instructors.

  • Able to approve NDE inspection and testing procedures or evaluate their adequacy.

  • Assist Manufacturing teams in troubleshooting NDE related defects, test failures, and NDE equipment related issues.

  • Develop and maintain training and qualification plans for NDE technicians.

  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university/college and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a non-destructive examination OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 6 years of non-destructive examination.

  • SNT-TC-1A Level III certification in Ultrasonic Inspection.

  • Eddy Current Inspection certification, Level II or higher.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Leak Detection Inspection.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • For Controlled Access Area: must be able to successfully pass a Nuclear Safety Training Test; follow strict radiation protection, criticality, and industrial safety regulations; wear protective clothing to enter the area.

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.

  • Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Characteristics

  • Level III Certification in Eddy Current Inspection and Liquid Penetrant Inspection.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills particularly technical writing, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nuclear industry with quality assurance or supporting organizations, including regulatory requirements (10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21, NQA-1, ANSI, ASME, etc.)

  • Hands-on approach with ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

  • Ability to work in cross-functional team environment. Ability to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Experience with automated/semi-automated immersion ultrasonic techniques.

  • Ability to develop new NDE test plans/processes based on engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
