Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Associate AD of Athletics Communications will:

  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership around the development of strategies for public relations, media relations/sports information, brand management, creative services, website management, marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Manage/lead the Athletic Communications team.
  • Independently direct, develop timelines, assign personnel, and manage the successful completion of multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Direct the review, planning, and implementation of all Athletic Communications Office policies and determine appropriate levels of accountability.
  • Develop and administer the Athletics Communication Budget.
  • Advise/contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that align with the university's strategic plan.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and 5+ plus years of related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master's Degree with at least five years of experience in a related field.
  • Prior management experience with ability to lead, develop, and mentor employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills combined with the skill in interacting with diverse department, University and community constituencies.
  • Ability to strategically man ge, direct and complete multiple projects and assignments concurrently.
  • Extensive writing, editing, desktop publishing, website and social media skills.
  • Ability to develop and disseminate information with sensitivity and urgency under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with practical, hands-on experience in applying Division I regulations.
