Actalent Automation Hardware Design Engineer in Willoughby, Ohio

Job Title: Automation Hardware Design EngineerJob Description

The Automation Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for designing industrial control panels and enclosures for use in harsh environments, including PLC, remote I/O, operator station, network, and drive cabinets (both DC and AC). This role involves component selection, sizing, and layout. The systems and offerings provided are primarily Engineer-to-Order (ETO). The qualified candidate must work closely with the drafting department and the automation engineering team to provide solutions that meet our customers' specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments from the hardware design lead.

  • Communicate with the project team on specific project requirements, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality.

  • Collaborate with the drafting department to produce, review, check, and mark-up engineering drawings, including bill of materials (BOM), panel layout, and electrical schematics.

  • Determine appropriate part numbers for PLC, I/O, and drive equipment.

  • Size equipment, fusing, breakers, wire, power supplies, etc., based on equipment design specifications and sound engineering principles.

  • Create Input/Output lists in Excel from existing customer electrical drawings.

  • Ensure communication and detail throughout the full phase of build and design.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Industrial automation equipment.

  • Proficiency in designing with AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Ability to read legacy drawings and designs for industrial automation equipment and suggest/design modifications to hardware.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with Industrial automation equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Work Environment

The role involves 20% travel to customer sites, with 80% of the time spent working in a beautiful new office outfitted with a fully functional kitchen and a gym. The culture is a family feel with a 'work hard, play hard' atmosphere.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $41.00/hr.
