ExxonMobil XTO Automation Technician (Williston, ND) in Williston, North Dakota

JOB SUMMARY

An Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation and control devices/electrical systems on remote oilfield Well Pad’s.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot and repair all well pad instrumentation.

  • Troubleshoot and repair Control and Electrical systems. (PLCs, transmitters, control wiring, MCCs, Soft Starters, VFD’s etc..).

  • Troubleshoot and repair control/communication networks for Well Pads and Communications Tower Sites (Ethernet I/P, Network Switches, Fiber Optics, Ethernet and Serial Radio networks)

  • Works safely around instrumentation and electrical systems.

  • Work Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CT

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 2 years of experience as an Automation Technician or an Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation, Controls or Electrical Systems.

  • ND Journeyman’s license a plus but not mandatory.

  • Understand basic well pad operation.

  • Fisher ROC experience a plus.

  • Allen Bradley PLC/Rockwell Automation experience is a plus.

  • Experience with wired and wireless Rosemount Pressure Transmitters, Guided Wave Radar’s, D.P. Level, Level Switch’s, Gateway’s, and Temperature Transmitters a plus.

  • Knowledge of control valves and positioners.

  • Knowledge of control loops.

  • Knowledge of Ethernet Radio and Serial Radio networks.

  • Solid understanding of low and medium voltage electrical equipment such as switch gears, Variable Frequency Drives, lighting contactors, and 24 volt DCE control circuits

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Willing to work after hour’s and weekend on-call rotation.

  • Willing to work overtime when necessary (not guaranteed).
