Generations Family Health Center, Inc. is a regional community health center covering a thirty-seven-town rural region in eastern Connecticut with sites located in Willimantic, Danielson, Norwich and Putnam. Our dedicated staff provides a full range of primary care services to all ages including medical, dental and behavioral health care, as well as care coordination and community outreach. In addition to our main facilities, we offer mobile programs and School Based Health Centers.

Location: Willimantic, CT (Billing Department)

Job Summary:Under the direction of a designated supervisor/manager, the Certified Coder is responsible for auditing patient clinical records and posting the appropriate charges for services rendered. The Coding position functions include: working closely with providers to ensure appropriate coding and documentation, working closely with Billing Specialists to ensure clean claims and quick turn around on denied claims, assuring all services rendered are billed appropriately, staying up to date on Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations and documentation guidelines and national correct coding initiatives, educating and training staff on coding and documentation guidelines and implementations; may assist in grant, financial, and productivity reporting and financial analysis.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Certification as a professional coder through AAPC (CPC, CPC-A) or AHIMA (CCS). This position requires that the certification is maintained continually throughout employment. High School Diploma or equivalency; two (2) years of experience in primary health care, oral health or behavioral health setting, and knowledge of insurance plans and managed care plans. Knowledge of medical, dental and behavioral health terminology. Familiarity with practice management and electronic health records systems; spreadsheet and word processing software packages preferred. Understanding of current industry billing rules, practices and guidelines such as ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, CDT coding, modifiers and HIPAA regulations. Excellent skills related to organizing and managing daily work tasks. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills.

Pay Rate: $19.56/hour
