Compensation

Substitute Teacher Aide: $16.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with youth in classroom environment

  • Assist education staff members in managing student behaviors

  • Assist teachers in preparation and implementation of curriculum

  • Council youth in matters of personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, safety, social skills, academics, and decision making

  • Proactively prevent or manage a crisis situation in a therapeutic manner

  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to build rapport with youth based on healthy boundaries, effective communication and mutual respect

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening

  • Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles

  • Ability to physically restrain if required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Theology, Social Work

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth in professional or volunteer capacity
