Gateway-Longview Per Diem Mental Health Counselor in Williamsville, New York

Job Title: Mental Health Clinician-Community Based Department: CFTSS

Position Summary: In a Community setting, provide individual/family counseling, treatment planning, assessments, and possible crisis intervention virtually or in-person for children, adolescents and their families to help prevent the progression of behavioral health needs.

Compensation

$50/hour for client sessions

$15/hour for staff meetings and trainings

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide all clinical services within the context of the child and family environment; this will primarily be within the child's home, school or preferred community location. Telehealth services will be offered as appropriate and in alignment with state regulations and program procedures.

  • Provide crisis management by stabilizing the child/youth in the home after the crisis has occurred and/or assist with goal setting. - Provide clients and their families with goal-directed community services and solution-focused interventions intended to address challenges associated with a behavioral health need and to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the client’s treatment plan.

  • In collaboration with the program supervisor/director, Managed Care Organization (MCO) and the child and family, create and establish a diagnosis and treatment plan that meets medical necessity, in the context of the child's self-identified needs, goals, and ethnic, religious and cultural identities.

  • Establish a diagnosis using the Diagnostic Statistical Manual-V (DSM V) and relevant assessment tools to establish a medically necessary treatment plan that demonstrates measurable goals, objectives and supports.

  • Work collaboratively with the child and family system of care which could include, Residential, Behavioral Health Clinic, Foster Care, Preventative services, Health Homes, Care Coordination, school districts, and primary care physicians.

  • Complete progress notes via Electronic Clinical Record (ECR) within 24 hours of service provision.

  • Understand and adhere to all agency policies and procedures to include meeting Productivity Expectations

  • Understand and adhere to Gateway's Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, providing professional and meaningful interventions and interactions.

  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings and trainings as required by the program.

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and also be an enthusiastic team player

  • Ability to work nights and/or provide some non-traditional hours.

  • Knowledgeable in Evidence Based behavioral interventions and assessments

  • Ability to work effectively with clients, staff, families, and community contacts

  • Ability to travel to community locations to meet with clients

Qualifications

  • Be fully licensed as LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC with experience working with children/families

  • Full-time positions only: Be license eligible or hold a provisional license (LMHC-P, LMSW Permit)

  • Valid New York State driver’s license and adequate auto insurance coverage
