UPMC Physical Therapist Assistant CC- Full-time in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

UPMC is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant to support patient services at our Costello Center location on the Divine Providence campus.

As a Physical Therapy Assistant at UPMC Williamsport, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality physical therapy treatments based on the plans established by our skilled physical therapists. Your insights and recommendations will help tailor these plans to better suit each patient’s unique condition and response to treatment. You will also ensure that our work environment remains organized and efficient, supervise therapy volunteers, and handle necessary clerical tasks. Additionally, you will transport patients safely and courteously, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active Participation : Engage in staff meetings, development programs, departmental committees, and in-service education to stay updated and contribute to our team’s growth.

  • Supervision : Provide appropriate supervision to clinical support staff, adhering to the Physical Therapy Practice Act of the practicing state.

  • Accurate Documentation : Complete necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the services provided to patients.

  • Therapeutic Interventions : Deliver comprehensive and skillful therapeutic interventions for patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics, based on treatment programs developed by physical therapists.

  • Patient Assessment : Assist physical therapists in assessing patients across all age groups, ensuring compliance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act.

  • Detailed Record-Keeping : Maintain thorough written and electronic documentation of all clinical services rendered, including changes in patient status and treatment interventions. Ensure documentation is co-signed as per facility guidelines.

  • Flexibility : Rotate through different treatment areas and facilities as needed to meet organizational needs.

  • Feedback and Improvement : Actively seek and provide objective feedback to supervisors regarding department performance and emergency situations.

  • Productivity : Schedule and manage your workload to meet or exceed the productivity standards set by the facility.

  • Clinical Implementation : Implement treatment programs effectively, based on patient responses and changes in medical status, to maximize outcomes. Communicate any necessary alterations in the plan of care to the supervising physical therapist promptly.

  • Evidence-Based Practice : Apply current scientific and clinical knowledge to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

Accredited Program: Must graduate from a Physical Therapist Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association, holding an associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Mandatory Competencies:

  • System and Facility Orientation: Must complete all mandatory competencies for the system, CRS business unit, and/or facility.

  • Orientation Programs: Completion of CRS Orientation, Facility-specific Orientation, and Department-specific Orientation(s) where appropriate.

Work Environment:

  • Medication Storage: May be in rooms where medications are stored during job duties, but no contact with medications is allowed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR Certification: Must obtain CPR certification based on American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component, within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Certification in either BLS or CPR is required.

  • Physical Therapist Assistant License: Must hold a valid license as a Physical Therapist Assistant or be under indirect supervision as required.
