MEDICAL DOSIMETRIST (Multiple Openings) -- UPMC Williamsport seeks multiple Medical Dosimetrists in Williamsport, PA to be involved in all aspects of patient care performing all medical dosimetry tasks; responsible for designing a treatment plan, using a computer or manual computation, that will deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the patient after Radiation Oncologist consults with patient, determines treatment plan; responsible for specialized radiation dose distribution calculations according to the physician's prescription given to a cancer patient while taking into consideration the dose-limiting structures. Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, in Medical Dosimetry, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field; Must be certified by AAMD's Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or eligible for certification. Job Responsibilities:
- Involved in all aspects of patient care performing all medical dosimetry tasks;
- Responsible for designing a treatment plan, using a computer or manual computation, that will deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the patient after Radiation Oncologist consults with patient, determines treatment plan;
- Responsible for specialized radiation dose distribution calculations according to the physician's prescription given to a cancer patient while taking into consideration the dose-limiting structures, such as the eye when treating the brain, the heart when treating the lung, or the spinal cord when it is included in the treatment field;
- Responsible for generating an optimal treatment plan that will create a balance between delivering the prescription the physician has written while ensuring the patient will not lose important healthy organ function;
- Participate in treatment simulation including providing assistance with patient immobilization and positioning.
Qualifications:
- Must hold Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Dosimetry, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field;
- Must be certified by AAMD's Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) or eligible for certification.
