Who We Are
HII, being the largest military shipbuilder in the nation, has the expertise to seamlessly integrate countless components and services from all over the world to accomplish a greater objective. Mission Technologies, a branch of HII, is in search of a Diesel Mechanic for their Cheatham Annex location in Williamsburg, VA. The chosen individual will be responsible for supporting military tactical vehicles and equipment by issuing daily trip tickets, managing vehicle check-ins and check-outs, and conducting routine Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) inspections to assist the Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support team.
What You Will Do
Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more multiple jobs.
Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
May perform quality inspections on finished product. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
Conduct Periodic Maintenance in accordance with standard Navy Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
Evaluating and recommending corrective actions for equipment that fail or exceed PMS.
Daily upkeep of the facility and CESE support equipment.
Managing a small amount Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) a type of Hazardous Material (HazMat) for proper use and storage.
Maintain maintenance records for all equipment, detailing maintenance and repairs.
Maintain and track CESE collateral equipment.
Will be using basic hand tools and soliciting bids for purchase order work.
What You Must Have
High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Candidate must have a valid Class A CDL License
Candidate must have experience working on diesel equipment
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust Security clearance.
Bonus Points For Having!
Prior Military (Army or Navy) experience completing vehicle maintenance
Prefer technical/professional certification
Prior service as:
Construction Mechanic (CM)
Equipment Operator (EO)
Heavy Wheeled Mechanic
Certified ASE Mechanic
Certified Diesel Mechanic
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
