Reference #: 4551358 THE POSITION The Department of Environmental Protection is searching for a passionate individual who is committed to safeguarding the well-being and security of Pennsylvania's residents and surroundings. You will assist the Wilkes-Barre District Office of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation with environmental, civil, and mining engineering projects to address hazards and environmental damage at abandoned mine sites under federal surface mining control and other federal and state programs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, your main responsibility is to either design or review the designs of environmental engineering projects, including complete mine reclamation projects. Your role will involve developing the technical aspects of the project while ensuring adherence to project priorities and deadlines. You will also need to collaborate with public agencies, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with standards and requirements. Your supervisor will provide supervision and technical guidance, reviewing your work for engineering soundness, achievement of project objectives, and cost-effectiveness. In some cases, you may need to seek input from a higher-level co-worker for complex tasks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,348.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Successful completion of the training program for Environmental Engineering Trainee; or One year of professional experience in environmental engineering, and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering. Graduate study in environmental engineering or in a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Condition of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid driver's license. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
