You will conduct preliminary interviews to determine eligibility for assistance with energy bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Energy Assistance Worker, you will process initial benefit and CRISIS applications for LIHEAP. We are excited to offer multiple full-time, seasonal positions that typically run for 6-8 months during the fall and winter months. This is a valuable opportunity to assist clients in applying for heating assistance during the bitter cold months. We seek individuals with excellent communication and organizational skills to join our team. Comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills needed to fulfill critical responsibilities such as conducting client interviews, liaising with heating vendors, and assessing applications for eligibility based on federal and state regulations. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Travel and overtime as needed. Work conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment.  In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne County. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
