Wolters Kluwer Manager, Product Software Engineering in Wichita, Kansas

Responsibilities

· Deliver multi-tier SaaS solutions, on-time, with high quality that delight customers

· Leads the Agile Teams, the managers, the architect, the RTE, and the SCRUM Master

· Works collaboratively with CCH Axcess Scan Product Manager, Product Owners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and to achieve product delivery goals

· Works collaboratively with stakeholders within the CCH Axcess and Scan ecosystems, to ensure alignment with technology roadmaps, product releases, and to manage dependencies to achieve product delivery, tech debt reduction, and quality goals

Responsible for designing and implementing quality up front initiatives to help meet quality improvement and process improvement goals

· Responsible for shipping high quality products on time and on budget manages projects and the Agile Teams working on them

· Leads and collaborates with team members and other Agile teams across CST and IST timezones.

· Collaborates with Director to determine departmental budgets and schedules, and to ensure they are met

· Responsible for reviewing cost/benefit analyses of design alternatives and collaborates with technical staff before selecting final design

Ensures the identification and implementation of improvements to the development process

· Responsible for improving efficiencies and reducing costs through adherence and enhancements to project management methodologies, if established for the department

· Responsible for effectively identifying and migrating non-development tasks to support work teams

· Recommends organizational changes and changes in technology as a means to enhance productivity

· Conducts performance reviews, recommends candidates for promotion, and manages performance improvement plans as necessary

· Fosters overall employee career development

· Manages recruiting efforts to fill individual positions and selects candidates for hire

Leadership and Communication

· Communicates in a professional manner when interacting with less-experienced staff, peers, senior staff, and internal or external customers

· Demonstrates the ability to actively listen to others

· Communicates project plans, goals, and status to other work units

· Communicates departmental and project strategies within area of influence

· Channels strategic ideas and other input from staff to senior levels

· Produces well-written business documentation

· Writes project justification documents, including capital expenditure requests, and presents proposals to senior staff

· Prepares and conducts presentations for various user areas and staff levels, including senior management

· Coaches less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship

· Influences the goals and plans of other work units

· Works with other work units and acts together toward common goals

· Interacts and collaborates with peers, other teams, and other departments in a cooperative spirit

· Fosters an environment in which others are encouraged to be innovative and are rewarded for innovation

Job Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering degree, or relevant work experience, preferred

-Minimum 7 years relevant experience working within product software engineering.

· 7 years of experience managing Agile, particularly SCRUM teams who develop end-to-end using the Microsoft technology stack

· Experience managing and leading multiple global teams of software developers, QE/QA engineers, SCRUM Masters, and managers. These teams design, develop, and deliver custom commercial software for customers using the Microsoft technology stack and integrate with other platforms and products across Tax and Accounting.

· Experience designing, implementing, analyzing, and effectively optimizing effective cross-team product development initiatives.

· Domain expertise in Tax and Accounting applications, preferred

· 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams delivering 24/7 high available and scalable cloud solutions and services.

· 5+ years people management experience with proven track record of creating positive high performing culture and advancing career growth for direct reports.

· Strong communications skills – both written and verbal. Communicates departmental and project strategies within area of influence. Communicates in a professional manner when interacting with less-experienced staff, peers, cross-team units, senior staff, and internal or external customers.

· Strong organizational, planning, and execution skills. Ability to build and foster collaborative relationships across disciplines and work hand in hand to ensure product delivery goals.

· Demonstrates the ability to actively listen to others. Ability to influence, facilitate team discussions with different opinions, and focus the teams on achieving their goals.

· Prepares and conducts presentations for various user areas and at various staff levels, including senior management.

· Works with other work units and collaborates effectively and positively toward common goals – including Product Management, Architecture, QE/QA, and other product and platform software development teams.

· Fosters an environment in which others are encouraged to be innovative and are rewarded for innovation.

· Coaches less-experienced staff members in a mentor-type relationship

· Strong technical background and deep understanding of the technology stack and cloud technologies. Experience with Microsoft Azure PaaS is a plus.

· Experience in SDLC governance implementing CI/CD as a development methodology.

· Demonstrates problem solving skills and ability to help team breakdown complexity into manageable tasks.

· Experience with applying various types of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in innovative ways is a plus.
