Eversource Energy Manager, Protection and Controls Special Projects (Hybrid) in Westwood, Massachusetts
1.Role and Scope of Position:
This Manager position is an enterprise-wide role, responsible for the planning, coordinating and management of protection & controls (P&C) engineering related activities required to support programmatic suites of projects such as the Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP), strategic, competitive, and system interconnection (LGIA, DER, BESS) solutions development across the Eversource operational service territory in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Responsible for managing the P&C Special Projects Engineering department, consisting of a team of P&C electrical engineers and support resources. Primary department duties include engineering and design support of P&C viability/feasibility solution studies, and design of conceptual solutions. Manages a team of P&C resources responsible for P&C screening of all DER interconnection applications across all 3 states. Where applicable, responsible for the successful transition and turnover of projects for detailed design and construction oversight by regional P&C projects engineering & design teams.
This is a Hybrid position. The first three months are in the office.
Essential Functions:
- Provide guidance and oversight of the teams engineering processes/procedures and design deliverables to ensure quality of design product and compliance with Eversource and industry standards, internal safety standards and operational practices.
- Plans, coordinates and manages the work activities of personnel assigned to the P&C Solutions Engineering group.
- Responsible for coordinating with project initiators/owners, System Planning, Substation Engineering and Project Management to understand unique project needs and develop and execute strategies to provide P&C design deliverables to meet specific project requirements.
- Responsible for facilitating regular communication/reporting to regional P&C projects managers to review portfolio of active competitive and strategic projects as necessary to ensure coordination with ongoing capital projects.
- Department is responsible for assisting in the development of engineering execution strategies for strategic, competitive and system interconnection projects including coordination of turnover to regional P&C projects engineering teams for execution of preliminary and detailed engineering phases and construction support.
- Develops employees using performance management, coaching, and, as appropriate, rotational assignments.
- Ensures designs and settings are in accordance with regulatory (e.g., NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE) and Eversource standards, directories, and procedures.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying
- Detailed knowledge of transmission power systems engineering and operation
- Supervisory and business planning skills
- Working knowledge of information technology and the use of Eversource office automation and information systems
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Degree in Electric Power Engineering is preferred.
Experience :
- Minimum of ten (10) years related experience with P&C engineering, including previous experience in management or leadership capacity.
Licenses:
- PE License preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Compensation: Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Theannual salary range for this position is $148,500.00- $165,000.00plus incentive. Salary iscommensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
