Engineer I RF/ Microwave Design-Phased Array

This position focuses on phased array antenna and RF design engineering as its area of specialization.

What Youll Do:

  • Phased array antenna, RF circuits, and antenna-related RF component design and development; typically supporting more than one program at a time.

  • Frequently use and apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.

  • Follow standard procedures and apply knowledge and skills to daily tasks.

  • Work on less routine tasks using knowledge, skills, and experience in different applications.

  • Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

  • Work under general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgement and overall adequacy.

  • Relate well with other people, contribute to small teams, and share knowledge and expertise. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Contacts are primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

  • Execute test plans. Schedule and execute measurements at internal and external facilities, perform measurement analysis and troubleshooting, process measurement data, and summarize performance.

  • Provide guidance to lower graded employees and RF technicians, as appropriate.

  • Assist with the preparation of presentations.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What Youll Need:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required, plus 2 or more years of related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Masters Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

  • Developing competency in core RF engineering and antenna theory and skills, and potentially stronger specialization in phased array concepts and technologies including RADAR and high data rate communications preferred.

  • Analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as AWR Microwave Office, Agilent ADS, CST, FEKO, or HFSS preferred.

  • Experience in programming, data manipulation, and data visualization in MATLAB preferred.

  • Experience with design of phased array antennas and RF components, including radiating elements, radomes, power dividers, couplers, transitions, and multi-layer board designs preferred.

Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $86,000 - $107,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
