Your opportunity
Wealth and Asset Management Engineering (WAME) is a part of the Schwab Technology Services organization. WAME organization supports Schwab's money management, research and asset management platforms to help clients manage their wealth. The Financial Research technology team within WAME delivers and supports Investment research applications and products used by Schwab Representatives and our Clients as they plan for their financial futures and wealth management.
As a Software Developer (Sr Specialist) for SAMS Research Technology, you will join the team as a developer delivering solutions for the business. Based on your technical skillsets, quantitative research skills, and deep interest in our financial research domain you could be working on any of our workstreams specializing in financial research engineering or cloud data engineering or traditional full stack app dev:
This position will enable delivering high quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative and rapidly changing delivery environment. It requires highly motivated and focused developers curious to build new and innovative solutions for our Clients.
Design, develop and drive the next generation/cloud ready applications for Research enterprise solutions targeted for Schwab consultants and clients
Participate in ground up modernization projects to improve user experience and collaborate with the technical architects to develop modern technical architectures
Enhance our research application platforms using our Java micro service event driven architecture
Angular based UI development projects to automate workflow functions
Support and enhance our financial research data pipelines and model development infrastructure in R, Matlab and Python
Develop dashboard visualization apps using Python, Plot.ly DASH
Database implementation projects to analyze client trading data and data migration
Support and uplift infrastructure on existing financial research data pipeline implementations.
Enable our target state cloud research data lake platform implementation.
Be a champion of new ways of collaborating with technology and business partners
Drive continuous integration and deployment strategies leveraging tools like GitHub/Bamboo with a DevOps philosophy
Perform level 2/3 production support activities Be a champion of new ways of collaborating with technology and business partners
Influence and implement improvements and efficiencies in the technical aspects of the development process
Ensure the highest quality software is developed, delivered and maintained
Be a key leader in the agile process fostering collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and transparency
Be a mentor and positive role model to junior members of the team
What you have
Required:
3+ years demonstrated hands-on real-world experience in enterprise application development. Full stack experience preferred.
Advanced degree in computer science or financial engineering degree with strong programming skills
Ability to learn a diverse tech stack and deliver solutions with customer focus
Demonstrated experience in server-side service development and expertise with enterprise integration patterns (Java and spring stack experience preferred).
Experience using Pivotal Cloud Foundry platform or similar stack. Experience with developing and deploying Cloud ready applications
BS in computer science
Preferred:
Prefer experience working on data science and cloud data platform engineering frameworks.
Exposure to Apache Kafka/ Rabbit MQ and other messaging frameworks
Demonstrated real world experience in software engineering principles, such as software design patterns
Demonstrated real world experience in database principles, such as SQL, Oracle, MongoDB or Hadoop
Prefer exposure to data analytics using Python/R/Matlab
Working knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment and DevOps principles. Understanding of BDD and TDD styles
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values and procedures
Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers
Experience building designs and reviewing them with architects
Attention to details
Curiosity to understand and leverage new tools and technologies
Strong desire to leverage technology to build products that "wow" users
Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate
Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
