Job Description: Position Summary: The Mill Shop Manager will plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver casework products in a timely fashion. Supervise and coordinate activities of team members assigned to the Mill Shop. Oversee the assembly of custom commercial grade cabinetry and millwork pieces per the specifications and drawings, using standard production methods and assembly techniques. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines. Determine labor requirements and dispatch team members to construction sites. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations. Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, team members, and clients Develop cabinet layouts, designs and renderings as required by clients and co-workers Review cabinetry orders for accuracy and oversee timely deliveries Manage schedule for field crew, installers and delivery driver Obtain all necessary permits and licenses as needed Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods; then select, contract, and oversee workers who complete construction projects. Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports. Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out. Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction and installation problems. Communicate effectively with team members, sub-contractors, and clients. Communicate delays or issues to supervisor and /or clients and project team while finding ways to improve Confirm projects are on budget, on time and installed properly. Ensure extreme attention to detail and quality control. Assign tasks and delegate responsibility to individuals. Evaluate the work to ensure safety, quality, and productivity requirements are being met. Provide safety and technical support to team members assigned to the Mill Shop Meet with the team each morning before work begins to discuss how the work will be safely accomplished. Ensure that all company paper work including team member reviews, time sheets, etc. are completed accurately, on time, and turned in by established deadlines. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Blue print reading and interpretation, scheduling and planning of tasks, understanding of how to measure and track productivity, ability to manage a team and a fundamental understanding of the building process. Must be knowledgeable of construction safety. Must be knowledgeable with the various tools and equipment utilized in the Mill Shop. Must be able to plan tasks, schedule manpower and equipment.
