Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Spring 2025

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Lake Shore Cryotronics, you will receive a hands-on experience focused on manufacturing process improvement. Guided by an experienced mentor, you will benefit from immersion in both office and lab environments while working with cutting-edge technologies. This full-time Spring internship will run January to April / May 2025.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Under the guidance of a mentor, the intern will be responsible for project management and execution of a process improvement project. This will include: planning, documentation, communication, process design, and process validation
  • Support for specific product line(s): observe and identify problems, propose solutions and assist in prioritizing the tasks that drive to resolution
  • Create, release, and maintain product and process documentation
  • Assisting professional engineers with other various tasks

Qualifiers:

  • Current enrollment in an educational institution (undergraduate bachelor's program preferred) studying Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field
  • GPA of 3.0+
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in (or desire to learn) 3D modeling & 3D printing for creation of fixtures (Solidworks is a plus)
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills related to identifying how things work and mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity and ability to operate basic tools (experience with advanced machining tools such as mill & lathe is a plus)
  • Ability to preserve the confidentiality of information, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to be both an independent worker and team player.
