Amazon Sr Software Development Engineer - Amazon Robotics in Westborough, Massachusetts

Description

Amazon Robotics is building a new foundational system which will transform warehouse robotics by enabling the creation of many additional automation solutions. The system integrates multiple robots using a custom vision system which can identify objects and localize with very high positional accuracy. The team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to architect and scale the perception system.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software development and has a track record of leading the design and implementation of new products and features using cloud solutions and robotic systems. They have solved computer vision problems and seen their solutions deployed at scale in live environments. They are a hands-on expert, with a deep and broad understanding of sensors, CV algorithms and how to integrate CV into a larger system

Key job responsibilities

Specific areas of focus may include (but are not limited too):

· Working closely with hardware engineers to design and implement a customized high-accuracy, low-cost vision system

· Applying experience and judgement to selecting best-of-breed algorithms encompassing classical CV and deep learning approaches

· Evaluating and integrating new sensors into the perception software stack

· Developing infrastructure for robotic perception and localization

· Building visualization tools for analyzing and debugging robot behavior

· Building frameworks for large-scale record, replay and analysis of sensor data

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
