Job Description:
The Supervisor of Health and Medical Programs is a key leadership role within the Workforce Development Department, responsible for the management, coordination, and growth of health and medical training programs, including the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and Phlebotomy programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality educational experiences that meet industry standards and prepare students for successful careers in the healthcare field. The Supervisor reports to the Senior Supervisor of Health and Medical Programs under the direction of the Director of Educational Partnerships and Workforce Development. This position requires some evening hours to accommodate both day and evening programs. Flexible scheduling is available. The Supervisor of Health and Medical Programs will be expected to, on occasion, provide instruction in both the theory and clinical components.
Key Responsibilities Program Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and Phlebotomy programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instructional materials to ensure they meet current industry standards and best practices.
Coordinate with instructors to maintain high levels of student engagement and success.
Faculty and Staff Coordination:
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate instructors and support staff for health and medical programs.
Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their teaching practices and stay updated with the latest industry trends.
Student Support and Success:
Monitor student progress and provide guidance to ensure timely completion of programs.
Address student concerns and work collaboratively to resolve issues related to academic performance, clinical placements, or other areas impacting student success.
Coordinate clinical placements, ensuring a diverse range of experiences that meet program requirements.
Work with the Student Services Coordinator to monitor student progress, address academic and personal concerns, and ensure a supportive learning environment.
Collaborates on initiatives to improve student retention, completion rates, and overall satisfaction.
Partnership Development:
Establish and maintain partnerships with local healthcare facilities, community organizations, and industry professionals to enhance program offerings and student opportunities.
Work with employers to identify workforce needs and adapt programs to meet evolving demands in the healthcare sector.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure programs meet all accreditation, certification, and regulatory requirements, including those set by state and national accrediting bodies.
Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to ensure program effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Budget and Resource Management:
Manage program budgets, including the allocation of resources, equipment procurement, and financial planning.
Seek out and apply for grants or other funding opportunities to support program growth and sustainability.
Marketing and Recruitment:
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies for student recruitment and program promotion.
Represent the health and medical programs at community events, job fairs, and other outreach activities to attract potential students.

Job Qualifications
Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:
Must meet minimum qualifications for provisional appointment as follows:
A) Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in adult vocational/career training, or;
B) Associate's degree and five (5) years of experience in adult vocational/career training, or;
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
Required Qualifications:
Must hold a valid New York State RN License
Bachelor's degree required.
Additional Qualifications:
Must take upcoming Erie County Civil Service exam for the title of WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SUPERVISOR once announced.
Thorough knowledge of occupational conditions, trends and job development
Good knowledge of the legal environment of public administration related to local Workforce Programs
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, private and governmental agencies and labor groups within a diverse constituency
Ability to prepare and supervise the preparation of complex and detailed records and reports
Skill in collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data and information related to Workforce programs and problems
Ability to express oneself effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to understand oral and written directions
Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
