Mechanical Engineer!

Location: West Mifflin, PA or Schenectady, NY

Status: Full-Time / Exempt

Salary: $83K - $105K depending on education and experience

Scope:

Are you interested in getting in on the ground floor of an exciting new project that will design and analyze support equipment for the next generation radiological shipping container? Our client develops advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of our Navy's submarine and aircraft fleet. Our company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer member to join the Submarine Spent Fuel Shipping Container Recapitalization Project within Reactor Servicing Systems. The Mechanical Engineer member will perform engineering evaluations in support of the design and analysis of shipping container support equipment.

Responsibilities will include developing conceptual designs and eventually detailed engineering drawings, structural analysis, performing alignment & tolerance studies (fit-up analysis) or developing design specifications. The engineer should have experience with mechanical equipment design and structural analysis. Additionally, the engineer may support engineering and business activities of the Reactor Servicing organization, as needed.

Job Duties:

• Support with drawings and investigations, provide data for technical documentation, and inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with contract requirements and adherence to schedules and budgets.
• Provide input to support requests for new projects, including review of statements of work and technical documents for accuracy. 
• Support with the evaluation of project work sites as needed and submit basic written reports and required paperwork. 
• Attend meetings and track project milestones.

• Other duties as assigned.

   

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 3 years relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).

Active L security clearance

Relevant experience should include:

• Mechanical design or structural analysis
• Microsoft Office
• Technical writing

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with developing new equipment systems or hardware concepts
• Alignment and tolerance studies or fit-up studies
• Developing engineering drawings or specifications

• Structural FEA experience

   

Security Clearance:

Active L security clearance.

Background Check and Screenings
