Avantor, Inc. Inside Sales Representative - Science Education in West Henrietta, New York

Job SummaryThe Inside Sales Representative is responsible for achieving sales and profit objectives with the territory. This position will be evaluated on achieving the adjusted gross margin dollar forecast and sales growth targets.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • Develops strong customer relationships, informs customers of current sales programs, and effectively closes the sales opportunities that are uncovered.

  • Handles product and program promotions, contracts and price quotations, direct mailings, and may include limited in-person sales calls to key local customers, or at trade shows.

  • Interaction and pricing negotiations with Customers.

  • Manages the discount structure offered to customers.

  • Provides the necessary technical assistance and account service to assist the customer in sourcing their scientific supply needs through VWR.

  • Keeps current on VWR’s capabilities and product offering.

  • Keeps account data in CRM system up to date.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Previous sales/inside sales/customer service experience required.

  • Familiarity with laboratory functions and related lab supplies and equipment helpful.

  • Previous experience working within the educational system (university or K-12) helpful.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Must have strong professional communications skills, time and territory management, contract management.

  • Highly motivated individual that has demonstrated the ability to produce results while working independently.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office is a must.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills are needed.

  • Familiarity with how a laboratory functions and the supplies used within will be very beneficial.

  • Proficiency in database management a plus.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

Occasional travel (to sales conferences, customer sites, or trade shows) required. Total travel is generally less than 10%.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
