Job Summary:

The Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring that all measurement and test equipment used in the production process and metrology areas are calibrated and maintained to meet required standards. The technician will work to ensure the accuracy and reliability of instruments, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and customer specifications. There may be long periods of standing while calibrating some Measurement and Test Equipment, logging and reporting data.

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

· Calibration of Instruments and Equipment:

o Interact professionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, and other departments to identify calibration needs and schedule activities.

o Selection and calibration of inspection and test equipment, working with equipment and calibration suppliers

o Perform calibration of various types of instruments, including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, drop indicators and test indicators

o Request quotes and submit Purchase Orders for outside calibration

o Use calibration procedures, technical manuals, and established standards to ensure all instruments are calibrated correctly

o Maintain accurate calibration records in the calibration software, and certificates of calibration for each instrument

§ Document all calibration activities accurately and maintain records in compliance with internal and external quality management systems (such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025)

§ Generate and review calibration reports, including any deviations or issues found during the calibration process

· Assist in the analysis of measurement data, identifying trends or potential issues with instruments.

· Assist in the preparation of calibration procedures and help ensure that they align with company standards and regulatory guidelines

· Provide technical support and guidance to other team members or departments regarding equipment calibration and measurement practices.

· Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities

· Participate in audits (internal and external) related to calibration and maintenance practices.

· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

· Familiarity with QC inspection equipment and techniques

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Computer skills, including Microsoft Office

· Ability to interpret optical and mechanical drawings, standards and specifications

· Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS-9100, AS9102, MIL-STD-810, MIL-PRF-13830, ISO 10-110 and other standards preferred

· Familiarity with control of government property preferred

· Familiarity of Gage R&R, Measurement Analysis

· Ability to work well with people

· Self-starter, capable of working with little supervision

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Good multi-tasking skills

Requirements and Competencies:

Language Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.

· Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.

Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.

Experience/Certifications/Degrees Required:

· 1-3 years of experience as a Calibration Technician or in a similar role.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

· The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and see colors. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

  • The employee is frequently required to use the computer.

Work Environment:

· May involve the use of oils and solvents.

· Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)

· Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

· Safety Glasses as required

· May require area specific safety training

  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.

  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.

Travel:

  • This position may require a moderate amount of travel (Domestic & International) with the understanding that travel is absolutely required when market urgencies and opportunities arise.

  • Schedule flexibility is required.
