Position: Handyman / Carpenter

Reports to: Building Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Handyman / Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks throughout the school facilities as well as continually making improvement to the building and its operation. This includes carpentry work, general repairs including light plumbing & electrical, drywall repairs, painting, general cleaning, and minor construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

This position is a full-time Monday-Friday 11:00 AM-7:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carpentry:

  • Construct, repair, and modify wooden structures, such as cabinets, doors, and furniture.

  • Install and repair flooring, trim, and molding.

  • Repair doors and windows.

  • General Repairs:

  • Repair plumbing fixtures, such as faucets and toilets.

  • Repair electrical fixtures, such as light switches and outlets.

  • Repair drywall, plaster, and paint.

  • Minor Construction Projects:

  • Build or remodel small structures, such as sheds or storage areas.

  • Move & assemble furniture, fixtures and equipment

  • Preventive Maintenance:

  • Inspect and maintain school facilities to identify and address potential problems. Take a proactive approach to building maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and restocking bathroom consumables.

  • Safety:

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.

  • Use appropriate safety equipment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 years of experience as a handyman or carpenter.

  • Strong carpentry skills, including the ability to read blueprints and use power tools.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 75

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
