To provide technical support to the West Deptford site, assisting with trouble shooting and upgrades to the site control system and network.

Responsible for developing and implementing an improved long term controls strategy, being technical lead for PGMS US wide controls infrastructure upgrade projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement long term (5+ yrs) control system plans and standards for process control improvements within PGMS US.

  • Ensure that site controls & automation COMAH requirements are met and act as technical lead on controls and automation inspections from the HSE, group audits etc.

  • Direct the PGMS US controls strategy, reviewing technology offerings and implementing upgrades to maintain best practices.

  • Execute dual site controls and automation projects (up to $500k) as technical lead. This includes hiring and directing contractors and internal personnel and managing electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic plumbing.

  • Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms to create robust programs and sequences for both batch and continuous chemical processes.

  • Evaluate control risks and classify events in compliance with PSM standards. Facilitate controls/OT security risk assessments and support PSM tasks as required.

  • Implement recognized regulatory standards with regards to all control policies, procedures and functions, including safety instrumented systems. Provide controls-based review of projects to ensure these requirements are met correctly.

  • Ensure controls strategy, network and procedures align with OT cyber security requirements and provide technical support to sites and sector OT cyber security lead during transition to secure status.

  • Develop and support Disaster Recovery plans for control systems in line with business continuity targets, as part of the wider Disaster Recovery works.

  • Support the production/development/review/maintenance/update of controls related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of systems and process control technologies across the wider PGMS US I,C,&E community.

  • Support Operations and Engineering with escalated process breakdowns, assist area engineers to troubleshoot process control problems and meet business needs.

  • Guide and train area personnel on process control strategy in order to assist process control improvement efforts.

Requirements for the role:

  • Degree in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering with experience in designing automated electrical process controls using programmable automation controllers. Strong experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Technologies

  • 5+ years of industrial work experience within a chemical industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to program PLC Allen Bradley PLC5, Micrologix, Compactlogix and Controllogix processors with Rockwell Automation Software.

  • Experience with SCADA packages, ideally Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalkView SE

  • Demonstrated success in managing and leading both long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in control panel design and OT network communications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Project, Excel, Powerpoint, Word) as well as AutoCad.
