About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on electric-vehicle charging, photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation. Additionally, assembly of electric-vehicle chargers, low-voltage motor control centers, and retrofit and replacement circuit breakers occurs at the facility.

We are looking for a Manager - Electrical Engineering - GIS & MV Secondary. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.

Siemens Electrification and Automation (EA) business unit is seeking an exciting addition to our engineering leadership team. We have an opening for a role leading our GIS & MV Secondary electrical engineering team. This role will support long-term growth initiatives with a focus on customer experience, employee development, and process improvement. This position will supervise 10+ direct reports and will play a pivotal role in overseeing the entire engineering process, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring the delivery of high-quality switchgear solutions that meet our client's specifications and industry standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and team leads, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise. Be a technical leader with a strong focus on employee skills development.

  • Take ownership of the overall electrical engineering experience for GIS & MV Secondary products. This will include leadership and technical support during design approval, detailed engineering, production, and post-project lessons learned phases.

  • Drive the design and development of Switchgear systems, including component selection, schematics creation, and layout design.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, project management, and manufacturing, to define project requirements and deliverables. Proactively evaluate requests to provide the best possible engineering lead times considering the current engineering and factory workload (in collaboration with the Master Scheduler and/or Team Leads).

  • Manage the day-to-day needs of the team. This will include training and coaching of new team members, schedule management, timely escalation resolution, and coordination with factory/field stakeholders.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing by leading the effort to enhance engineering tools, processes, and Knowledge Base. Also, promote innovation, efficiency, and excellence in all aspects of design and development.

  • Provide technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders, resolving engineering-related issues and inquiries promptly.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the engineering process.

  • Products supported by this role: Medium Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgears and Medium Voltage Metal Enclosed Switchgears.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Medium Voltage Switchgear (or related) electrical engineering.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

  • Profound knowledge of power distribution systems design principles, components, and systems architecture.

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, protections, control systems, and circuitry.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as NEC and UL requirements.

  • Experience with engineering software tools, such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, etc. for Electrical design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience. At least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Familiarity with E-Base, ELCAD, SAP, and Sales Force is preferred.

  • Must be physically in the Office 2-3 days a week on average.

  • The pay range for this position is $98,980 - $169,680 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
